The Story of Us
Leap And Linger is a family business, and we are incredibly proud of that fact. Here is the story of the pieces that make us whole - intertwined, connected, and endlessly inspiring one another.
Leap And Linger is a family business, and we are incredibly proud of that fact. Here is the story of the pieces that make us whole - intertwined, connected, and endlessly inspiring one another.
A Serendipitous Journey with Clay & Glaze
It all started when Nomi (Lan) was gifted some small handmade clay items by her daughter Lily (Nhi). That sparked Nomi’s profound passion for ceramic jewelry. From the very first meticulously hand-sculpted rings, through countless failed kiln-firings at rental facilities, to finally investing in our own kiln to master temperature control and study different clay bodies and glazes - every milestone has been a shared journey between mother and daughter. Lily takes charge of designing, selecting glazes, and hand-painting the fine details, while Nomi shapes the clay, manages the kiln, and runs the ceramic workshops.
We specifically chose to create and share ceramic jewelry out of our deep love for Mother Earth, nature, and the environment. Nomi’s workshops were born from a desire to help fellow pottery lovers approach ceramic jewelry making in a more accessible and beginner-friendly way, as miniature jewelry techniques are entirely different from wheel-throwing or traditional tableware.
Furthermore, after extensive testing, we made a firm decision to say no to slip-casting (plaster molds). While slip-casting allows for faster, mass production of thinner pieces, it results in porous and fragile ceramics. Instead, we use custom 3D-designed cutters and silicone press molds, hand-pressing solid clay to ensure maximum durability and strength for each piece.
A Love for Linocut & Artistic Foundations
As for Lily (Nhichancanh), she graduated from Hanoi Architectural University in 2023 with a degree in Fashion Design. The creation of Leap And Linger was both serendipity and the culmination of years of passion, hands-on experience, and an artistic foundation built during her university years.
Her journey into Linocut printmaking began quite accidentally in 2022 when a friend gave her a prompt and asked for help with a carving assignment. A love for the art form blossomed right then and there. Inheriting her very first set of carving tools from that friend, Lily began carving her own original prints, completely self-taught through the internet. Back then, Vietnamese resources were incredibly scarce, making it exceptionally difficult for self-learners to get started. Understanding this struggle, she decided to open 1:1 private workshops to guide and support those who love Linocut but do not know where to begin.
We make things that work better and last longer. Our products solve real problems with clean design and honest materials.
Absolutely nothing goes to waste at Leap And Linger!
Zero-Waste Clay: As a small business, we are able to recycle nearly 100% of our clay scraps.
Seconds Sale: For items with minor aesthetic flaws, we offer them at deeply discounted prices so nothing goes to waste and everyone has a chance to own a piece they love.
Recycled Paper & Water: As for paper scraps from our printmaking and packaging processes, we soak, blend, and re-pull them into brand-new handmade paper with a beautifully rustic texture. We use these recycled papers in our daily operations and also offer them for sale. Even the water used to recycle the paper is carefully filtered and repurposed to water our plants.
"We believe handmade pieces touch the most humanpart of us."
